Is he a cutie or what?

We think he could be a scarlet tanager, puffed up for the cold and perched on

the clothes line rack at the back of the trailer. He's about 2 1/2" of attitude.

The cold weather has brought everything to a halt here.

The predicted low tonight is 22 degrees, and power outages are common in the valley.

All the schools are closed and there is a constant stream of cancellations on TV.

People are being reminded to check on neighbors, and protect their plants and water pipes.

It is against the law to leave your pets outside when the temperature drops

below freezing.

The weathermen here are calling this an "Artic Blast" and warn that we may have freezing rain tomorrow. We won't drive in those conditions here. It's been our experience that Texicans can't drive in bright sunshine on dry pavement, and we are not prepared to take the risk.
