San Francisco

Alcatraz prison- it looks like you could swim it!
This was our pedicab driver in San Francisco. We took BART downtown intending to ride a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf, but the line to get on was horrible. The pedicab turned out to be a great idea because our peddle man gave us a private tour.

He took us to the street where we could catch a double-decker bus for a tour of the city. On the way we rode all along the waterfront. Note the leather shirts warding off the chill. We had hoped to boat over to Alcatraz but the tours were sold out for days.

This is at Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf. The place is filled with street entertainers; this guy being one of the family friendly types. There are lots of musicians playing for tips, and silver painted "robots" who pose with you for $1.

We ate at Hard Rock Cafe so I could get Amber a Hurricane glass. Sitting at the bar we discovered our bartender, a young man with blond rasta hair past his shoulders
and many-many piercings, was from northern Wisconsin.

Wait for it, wait for it...........................................

It's a giant Mac'n'cheese noodle! What were you thinking?

San Francisco is filled with art. It's everywhere. The city gives companies tax credits for money spent on public art, and it's not all big pasta.

A Judge here had just ruled that a ban on same-sex marriages was unconstitutional, and there was dancing in the streets! Did you know that rainbow flags come in garrison size??
