We woke up Thursday morning to find the screens on our back porch ice-covered.
Rumor has it sleet arrived about 4:30 AM.
We slept through it.
The palms look so sad weighed down with ice, and they sound bizarre.
Bella thought there was some kind of animal up the tree causing all that racket. She'd run to the tree and put her front paws on the trunk; staring up with a frenzied expression. I'd drag her away, scared that the falling ice might hurt her, and she'd run to the next tree to begin again.
This reminds us of our first winter here, when the highways were shut down.
The recovery time was about the same this year. The next day, Friday, it was 70 degrees and today it's 80.
Eat your heart out Kansas City.
