Milwaukee

We've been to Milwaukee before, so I wasn't quite as surprised this time by how much I like this town.

Milwaukee just doesn't sound like fun.

It doesn't roll off your tongue like Las Vegas or New Orleans, but this is no slouch of a city.

Beer and brats rule here.

There must be more neighborhood bars here than anywhere.

We are camped in West Allis at the Wisconsin State Fair Park (The only RV park in Milwaukee).

Driving around this suburb it's obvious that winters here are cold and long, because there are bars every block.

This is the home of Miller Brewing, and micro-breweries seem to be everywhere.

The downtown area was full of shoppers and people strolling around on this Sunday.

Milwaukee is on Lake Michigan, and the city takes full advantage of it! Canals work their way in to the city for pleasure boats and commercial traffic.

You can see everything from large ships to pontoon boats.

A downtown drawbridge.

The condos with boat slips look like fun now, but imagine winter winds off Lake Michigan.

Yes, Milwaukee has a lot going for it.

Beer!

Brats!

Cheese curds!

But there's more!

Milwaukee is the home of

The Harley Davidson Museum

You didn't think I was kiddin' did ya?

Right inside the door was a live bald eagle.

Cool, huh?

Serial #1

Seriously, #1.

I guess they can't positively guarantee it, but they present all the evidence that it could be.

Tires were white until color was added.

An early police model.

A motorcycle from WWII

They have an amazing collection of bikes, some totally restored and others

original. They also show the prototypes for newer bikes.

There are some custom bikes that are sublime and some ridiculous ones too.

Motorcycles dressed for the 50's and 60's.

Motorcycles that are rhinestone crusted.

Faithful reproductions of the Easy Rider customs.
