The Gulf Coast of Texas was famous for pirate activity, but Galveston Island was home to many.
Jean Lafitte took command of the island in 1816 and lived here with his cohorts until 1821.
The Pirate Museum
Coen tells me the pirates kept "Golden Money" in here. Lafitte supposedly left here with only two ships after burying his treasure on the island. People still find doubloons occasionally.
There's a great special effect here.
